One Thousand Nine Hundred and Seventeen, personally appeared before me Notary Public in and for the County and State aforesaid, Emily F. Adams, a resident of Palatka, County of Putnam, State of Florida, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain a pension under the provisions of Chapter 7259, Laws of Florida, approved June 7, 1917. That she is the lawful widow of Richard J. Adams, who was enlisted under the name of R. J. Adams on the 18th day of January, 1864, in Company B, Fifth Battalion, Calvary Regiment of the State of Florida, and who was honorably discharged at Lake City, Florida, on May 18th, 1865, on account of end of war by Parole from S. L. McMurry, Asst. Adgt. Genl. U.S.A. That he also served (see Exhibit A attached.) Under claim # 4521 of 1907 from October, 1908 to July, 1909, from the State of Florida. That she was lawfully married to the said Richard J. Adams under the name of Emily F. Holland, at Orange Springs, in the County of Marion, State of Florida on the 21st day of September, A.D., 1869, and that she was not divorced from him and that she has not remarried since his death, which occurred on the 19th day of November, A.D. 1912, in the County of Putnam, State of Florida except as herein stated: Has not remarried. Date of September 20th, 1869 an attached marriage certificate copy appears to be. That she is a resident of Putnam County, Florida, and has continuously resided in the State of Florida since the 7th day of November, A.D., 1867. ********************************************************************** That she has not heretofore been granted a pension from the State of Florida. A. S. Mosley’s company of the 7th. Fla. Reg. was afterward formed, at Palatka, Fla. In 1862 and surrendered at Gainesville on April l7th. 1862 but was ordered by Col. W. S. Dilsworth, commanding in East Florida, to get blockade goods from the Indian River and left Gainesville on April 12th. 1862 without having been mustered into the service. On July 13th. 1862 was ordered by Col. M. S. Perry of the 7th. Fla. Reg. to report to Maj. H. H. Teasdale, Chief Quartermaster, at Tallahassee for service and served under him and Capt. R. R. Grainger was a member of said regiment; that he is acquainted with R. J. Adams, the applicant named in the foregoing petition for a pension; that he knows that the said R. J. Adams rendered the service as soldier or sailor for the Confederate States during the war between the States as set forth in the foregoing petition for a pension.
