McLean County Judge Page 1 State of Florida County of Putnam I, Calvin Gillis, County Judge in and for said County do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of the letters of administration de bonis nou to Hezekiah E. Osteen in the matter of the administration of the estate of Joseph Higginbotham late of said County deceased, as appears of record in my office of Probate and I certify that said Osteen is at present time such administrator. In witness whereof I have therefore affixed my office seal and subscribe my hand of office in the town of Palatka on this the 22th day of June A. D. 1870. Calvin Gillis County Judge Page 2 Higginbotham, Joseph Estate State of Florida} County Court County of Putnam} Probate Office To all to whom these presents shall come - greeting Whereas Eliza Turner was duly appointed and qualified as administrex of the goods and chattels, assets and effects which were of Joseph Higginbotham late of said County deceased. At the time of his death, the said Joseph having died intestate and a resident of said County and whereas the said Eliza Turner after the granting administration to her of the goods, chattels, credits of the said deceased did take upon herself the administration of the goods, chattels, effects and credits of the said deceased and was lately removed from her said administration by the order of this court and her said letters of administration are revoked and whereas there remains assets in her hands and goods and chattels, credits and effects of the said deceased unadministered, and Hezekiah E. Osteen has been duly appointed and qualified as administrator de bonis nou of all and singular the goods, chattels, rights and credits which were of the deceased, and remaining unadministered by the said Eliza Turner. The said Hezekiah E. Osteen has entered into bond obligatory to the Governor of the State of Florida and his successors in office in penalty of eight hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs and R. M. Dillard and James Sauls as his securities. Now know you that administration of all and singular the goods, chattels, rights, and credits which were of the said Joseph Higginbotham deceased remaining unadministered are granted and by these presents committed to said Hezekiah E. Osteen. In testimony where of I have hereinto set my hand and affixed my seal of office this 7th day of October A. D. 1869. McLean Jacksonville I received at the hands of Mr. Keene several days past the sum of one hundred & twenty ($120) dollars to be paid to the guardian of the heirs of Joseph Higginbotham, late of this county deceased (all of said heirs are minors and have a guardian). I gave a receipt to Mr. Keene for the package of money--the money was sent by you through him for the purpose indicated. Elijah died June 4, 1868 in Duval Co. Each of his heirs received $120 after the estate was settled. Eliza (Ann Elizabeth) Pendarvis is the daughter of George & Sarah Pendarvis of Duval County, Florida. She married Joseph Higginbotham, March 13, 1856, in Duval County. He is the son of Elijah and Ann Hodges-Higginbotham. On the 1860 census Joseph and Eliza were living in Putnam Co., FL. After Joseph was killed at the Battle of Jonesboro/Jonesborough on 31 August-1st Sept. 1864, Eliza married William Turner. By the 1870 census she is listed as a widow again. In her mother's probate records of 1872, Eliza is referred to as "the widow of Dunn's Lake".
