Tornow, 77, Venice died March 26, 1997. He was born October 27, 1919 in Walnut, IL, and came to Venice 13 years ago from there. He was a retired Parts Clerk for a farm equipment company. An Army veteran of WWII, a member of American Legion No-Vel Post #159, VFW Post 8118, DAV Chapter 101, and the Paralysed Vterenas of America. Survivors include: his wife, Beatrice; a son, Stanley of Sarasota; a sister, Grace Merdian of Mount Morris, IL; 3 brothers, Clarence and Leonard both of Walnut, IL and Earl of Genesseo, IL. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Monday at Ewing Funeral Home. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Additional Comments: Glenn was employed by Walnut Farm Equipment of Walnut, IL. He was preceeded in death by his parents; William Tornow and Wilhemina Cook Tornw, both interred in Walnut Cemetery, Walnut Il and 1 brother, Harold and 1 sister Wilda Mckutcheon, both interred in Walnut Cemetery. Glenn served in the Quartermaster Corps in the US Army during WWII, having been stationed in the South Pacific on the island of New Caldonia. Just a few weeks after his discharge from the Army, he contracted Polio, spent a year at Hines VA Hospital in Chicago, a portion of which he was in an iron lung, thus leaving him a paraplegic. Glenn was an avid sports spectator, and a supporter of Walnut Community High Sports and Band Programs. After moving to Venice, FL, Glenn became a volunteer with the Loveland Home for the Handicapped.
