D. One Thousand Nine Hundred and twenty-two personally appeared before me, a Clerk of Circuit Court in and for the county and State aforesaid, Leonard Anderson, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 77 years of age, having been born on the 19th day of Jany., 1845, in the County of Telifair, in the State of Georgia. That he is a bona fide citizen of the county of Union, State of Florida. That he has resided in the State of Florida continuously since the 18th day of March, 1920. That he is the identical person who enlisted at Lake Butler, under the name of Leonard Anderson, on the 8 day of March, 1862, in Company A, Regiment 7th Fla. of the State of Florida in the service of the Confederate States and who was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Bentonville, N. C., in the State of North Carolina, on the ____ day of surrender, 1865, on account of surrender. That I served faithfully until HONORABLY DISCHARGED from the service of the Confederate States Army in the year 1865, and did not desert the service of the ___ nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States until after the surrender of the Confederate Armies. (Here state whereabouts at close of Civil War.) That I was at Bentonville, N. C. That my postoffice address is Lake Butler, County of Union, State of Florida. Leonard Anderson Attest: (2) M. H. ? D. 1921; and I hereby certify that the above declaration, etc., were fully made known and explained to the applicant before swearing; and that I have no interest, direct or indirect, in the prosecution of this claim. Dowling Clerk of the Circuit Court (FORM E) State of Florida} County of Union} Before me, a Clerk of Circuit Court in and for the State and County aforesaid, personally came John Croft, of Lake Butler County of Union State of Florida who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical person who enlisted at Lake Butler in the State of Florida on the 8th day of March, in Company A Regiment of the State of 7th Florida, which organization was regularly mustered into the service of the Confederate States of America; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that Leonard Anderson enlisted in Company A 7th Fla. Regiment of the State of Florida, at Lake Butler, in the State of Florida on the 8 day of March, 1862; that he served faithfully in the said organization until the ____ day of April, 1864, when I was wounded and carried to hospital. I know personally of the above stated service, because I served with Leonard Anderson in Company A Regiment 7th Fla. of the State of Florida, and was wounded in April 1864 and I did not desert the Confederate States service nor take the oath of allegiance to the United States before the close of the War. Sworn and subscribed before me this 24 day of May, 1921, and I hereby certify that the above declaration was fully made known to the affiant before swearing, and that I have no interest, direct or indirect, in the pension claim sought to be established by this declaration. S. T. Dowling Clerk of the Circuit Court (FORM F) Affidavit to be Made by Comrade State of Florida} County of Union} Before me, a Clerk of Circuit Court in and for the State and County aforesaid, personally came M. L. McKinney, of Lake Butler County of Union, State of Florida who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical person who enlisted at Lake City, in the State of Florida on the 8th day of March 1862, in Company A 7th Fla. Regiment of the State of Florida, which organization was regularly mustered into the service of the Confederate States of America; that he knows of his own personal knowledge that Leonard Anderson enlisted in Company A 7th Fla. Dowling Clerk Circuit Court ******************************************************************************* Report of County Commissioners We, the undersigned, County Commissioners in and for the County of Union Florida, do hereby report that at a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners held this day, the foregoing application of Leonard Anderson for a pension under the Laws of Florida, was investigated by us, and we are satisfied that the representation made in the petition and affidavits are true, and that a pension should be granted to the applicant. Dear Sir: Your application for pension was considered by the Pension Board a day or two ago, and although your proof of service is satisfactorily established, pension cannot be granted to you for the reason that you have not been a resident and citizen of the State of Florida for the time required under the law. In order to receive pension from Florida, a person must have been a bona fide resident and citizen of this State for eight years prior to the filing of the application for pension.
