D., ADDISON, who is successfully engaged in the practice of his profession in the City of Daytona as one of the representative osteopathic physicians of Volusia County, was born in New York City, September 23, 1880, and is a son of DAVID J. and ELLA LOUISE (PEARSALL) O’NEILL, both likewise natives of the old Empire State. DAVID J. O’NEILL, who was successfully established in the real estate business at Ridgewood, New Jersey, was too young for authorized service as a soldier in the Civil war, but his youthful patriotism was such that he ran away from home and joined the Army, his discharge having been gained by his mother when she presented the case to the military authorities and stated his correct age. He became a successful businessman, and his death occurred while he was making a visit at Daytona, Florida. Doctor O’Neill attended school both in Newark, New Jersey, and New York City, and at the age of eighteen years graduated from the high school at Ridgewood, New Jersey. Thereafter he was identified with business affairs in New York City until he entered upon the preparation for the profession of his choice. In 1903 he graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy, and in the same year he further fortified himself by a postgraduate course in the S. S. Still College of Osteopathy at Des Moines, Iowa. Thereafter he continued in the practice of his profession in Ridgewood, New Jersey, until 1906, when he came to Florida, animated by a desire to avoid the severe winters of the north. His choice of location has proved most gratifying both in a professional and climatic way, for at Daytona, one of the many fair and vital little cities of Florida, he has found a home “where every prospect pleases” and where his ability in his profession has enabled him to build up a large and representative practice. The doctor has recently taken postgraduate work at Kirksville, Missouri, and in his professional work he now specializes in Electronic Reactions of Abrams, representing the most advanced principles in the healing art. His deep appreciation of the advantages of his home city and state is shown in his fine manifestations of civic loyalty and progressiveness, and he is serving at the time of this writing, in 1922, as a member of the Municipal Commission of Daytona, which has adopted the commission form of government. He is a past master of Halifax Lodge No. 81, F. and A. M., and is a member of the building committee of the fine Masonic Temple now under construction at Daytona. His political allegiance has ever been given to the democratic party, and he and his wife are active members of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Daytona, he is a member of the local Kiwanis Club and the Daytona Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. On the 23rd of September, 1903, was solemnized the marriage of Doctor O’Neil and Miss LUELLA MORROW, daughter of WILLIAM B. MORROW, of Midland Park, New Jersey, and the children of this union are four in number.
