While clearing to expand the course they came across the graves and immediately sealed it off and started cleaning it up. They have plans to landscape the area and create a park around it, No golfers or golf carts will be allowed to cross the area. They have contacted the local black historians and plan to preserve it for future generations to visit. Dot Moore, New Smyrna historian has had the cemetery listed in the County as a Historical Cemetery.
