She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City since 1940. She served in the clerkship for 30 years. Worked in nearly every department from infants to present position of associate teacher in the Rachel Class. She was active in many committees in the WMU. She was retired from the Knoxville City School from 44 years of teaching, the last 31 at Central High School. She served as chairman of the English Department for many years. Chairman of the Knox County English Teachers. Past president of the Tennessee Council of English Teachers. One year on board of National Council of Teachers of English. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and on year president of its council. She was an active member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. Member and past president of the Fontinalis Club. She was a graduate of Carson-Newman College and received her master's degree from Peabody/Vanderbilt University. Preceded in death by her brother, Dr. James T. Warren, former president of Carson-Newman College who reared her and niece, Mrs. Jack Anne Dyer. Survived by nieces, Mrs. Sidney D. (Dale) Mason of Rocky Mount, VA, Mrs. Fredrick O. (Emily) Helm, Huntington, WV, Dr. Annie W. Ward of Daytona Beach, FL, Margaret Warren Cornwell of Fort Worth, TX, Bettye Boston Miller, Wichita, Kansas, Elizabeth Boston Glasgow of Frisco, TX; nephews; several great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Central Baptist Church of Fountain City, Dr. Calvin S. Metcalf and Rev. Ron Mouser officiating. Interment Lynnhurst Cemetery. Active Pallbearers: Bob Johnson, Greg Evans, Richard McMillian, Larry Keck, Don Ballenger, Richard Harmon, Jack Emge, Joe Hayries.
