State File No. 8WA538. Whaley Cemetery located off Hwy. 319, Wakulla Co., FL on private property (Harvey family) surrounded by wrought iron fence. First visited Mar 1989 by this compiler; revisited Sep 1992 after cemetery cleaned and stones rubbed and whitened. Plat 46, pg. 30, Crawfordville, Wakulla Co., FL. WPA directions: From Railway Depot in Arran, go SE on US 319, 3-5/10 miles. Cemetery lies 5/10 miles to right or west of road in field. Contact Clayton Whaley, Rt. 3, Box 5152, Crawfordville, FL 32317, for he was the individual who was escort to cemetery and knows current property owners. WHALEY, Edward, b. Jan 1 1842 d. Jan 15 1863 "Love by all who knew them" WHALEY, Nursie, b. Oct 12 1854 d. Feb 23 1907 ===== four unmarked stone set between above stones - no writing ===== Two stones with joined hands in circle on each located about 12' to 14' in front of Whaley markers read: WHALEY, Eller, b. Oct 22 1868 d. May 18 1897 WHALEY, Emmer, b. Oct 22 1868 d. Feb 28 1869 ===== Two stones located about 16' to 20' in front of Sephrona/Nursie stone: WHITE, Wakulla, b. Aug 10 1850 d. Feb 22 1928 WHITE, Betty, b. Oct 1847 d. Jun 2 1915 ===== To the far left of all stones is one single stone that reads: Emly A. wife of J.J. WINBURN, b. Jul 10 1861 d. Feb 29 1904 "To my father's hands are many [illegible]" "There is rest in heaven" ===== WHALEY, Edwin, b. Jan 1 1842 Lenoir Co., NC d. 23 Oct 1916 Crawfordville, FL, "PVT. Co. A., 1st Fla. [Thomas Evans] WHALEY & Catherine are parents of Edward WHALEY [should be Edwin, not Edward] Sallie COX WHALEY had no death date on stone, but d Jan 13, 1930. Sephrona and Nursie are daughters of Thomas & Catharine. Eller [Ella] and Emmer [Emma} are daughters of Edwin & Sallie. Betty White is Elisabeth Whaley, d/o Thomas & Catharine. [md James Wakulla White] "Emly" is Emily C. Whaley, d/o Jarman & Martha Whaley; Jarman, s/o Thomas & Catharine. J.J. WINBORN is Joseph J. Winburn, h/o Emily. The above mentioned Jarman Whaley md Susan Sasser and it is believed she is in this cemetery, but if she is, her stone is unmarked.
