G. 201 (Weldon, A. J. 1-29-25) ORD Honorable J. Thomas Heflin, United States Senate My dear Senator Heflin I have your letter of January 29, 1925, with which you inclosed [sic] one, herewith returned, from Mrs. S. L. Weldon, Florala, Alabama, who requests the service record of A. J. Weldon as a member of Company L, 34th Alabama Regiment, Johnson's Brigade, and in reply I am pleased to inform you as follows: The records show that A. J. Weldon served as a private in Company F, 34th Regiment Alabama Infantry, Confederate States Army. He enlisted February 26, 1862, at Tallapoosa, Alabama, but his presence or absence is not stated on the only muster roll of the company on file which covers the period from February 26, 1862 to March 31, 1862. However, other records indicate that he was paid December 28, 1863 for service from August 14, 1863 to October 31, 18O63. He was paroled at Montgomery, Alabama, May 29, 1865, at Headquarters of the 16th Army Corps. There are no rolls of Company L, 34th Regiment Alabama Infantry, C.S.A., on file in my office. It is deemed proper to state that the collection of Confederate records in this Department is far from complete and failure to find the complete record of any person thereon is by no means conclusive proof that such person did not serve during some period not covered by the records in the Department. With best wishes, I remain Very respectfully, Robert C. Davis Major General, The Adjutant General 1 Inclosure [sic] ****************************************************************************************** The State of Alabama Tallapoosa County To any licensed or Ordained Minister of the Gospel, Judge of the Supreme Circuit of Probate Court, Chancellor or Justice of the Peace for said County; --Greeting:--You are hereby authorized to Celebrate the Rites of Matrimony between A.
