He was born on Feb 8, 1933 in Tallassee AL to Joseph and Jessie Mae Hughey. Mr. Hughey lived in Mossy Head for the last 17 years moving from Niceville, Fla. He was Baptist by faith. He was a veteran of the Armed Forces, serving his country in the US Air Force National Guard. He was an entertainer and he had his own band, "Charlie's Country Band". Mr Hughey had a great sense of humor. He was an avid bass fisherman, and a loving husband and father. He was always very prepared, leaving nothing undone. Mr. Hughey was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jessie Mae Hughey; one brother Jack Lamar Hughey; one sister Willie Mae Foster and one daughter Linda Darnelle Hughey. Mr. Hughey is survived by his wife Linda Faye Hughey of Mossy Head; two sons Charles O. Hughey and wife Cynthia of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and Fred Lamar Hughey of Niceville; two step sons Samuel Hill and wife Phebe of Croosville, Tenn., and William G. Hill of Niceville; two daughters Sandra Darlene Hoffer and husband Jeffrey of Crestview, and Rhonda Suzette Hathaway and husband Dave of Niceville; one step daughter Sharon L. Carnley and husband Joey of Niceville; one brother Fred O'Neal Hughey and wife Sarah of Valparaiso, Fla.; one son in law Jerry Burton of Choctaw Beach, Fla. and one uncle Morrell Yates. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday Nov 26, at the Chapel of Clary - Glenn Funeral Home, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs Fla.
