He was born in Tennessee. Mr. Ward was a former resident of both DeLand and St. Petersburg, FL for many years. He was a retired school teacher and a former school principal and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Carson-Newman College in Tennessee. He is survived by his son, James A. Ward of Simi Valley, CA, daughters, Carol J. Ward of Orlando, and Nancy W. Pippen of Vernon, FL; grandchildren, Lawrence R. Pippen of Warner Robbins, GA, Kimberly McMonigle of Dallas, TX, and Lynne Pippen Walters of Williamsport, KY. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents Arthur P. Ward and Loma Byrd Ward, formerly of Knoxville, TN. The family request that donations be made in his name, to the March of Dimes, in lieu of flowers. Funeral services will be May 20, Friday at 2 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery Chapel with a Navy chaplin officiating. Burial will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola with Peel Funeral Home directing. Sent in by Elizabeth Pippen Walters
