F. Melton, Ordinary of said county, do certify that I know--Melvinia Abbott-- an applicant for pension. She is the person that she represents herself to be and she is a bona fide continuing resident citizen of said county and was on the 4th November, 1908 , and that I also know---[blank]---the witness that swears to the service of her husband, that both of them are now residents of said county, and were duly sworn by me before signing the foregoing affidavits and that they are both truthful, trustworthy, & that their statements are entitled to full faith & credit. H. Abbott who died in Appling County in the said state of Georgia on the 04th day of March of the year 1920 and that she has not since remarried. That she became the wife of J. H. Abbott on the 25th day of September of 1872, & that she & he had resided together as man & wife continuously since 25th of September of 1872 and that this J. H. Abbott is the same man who was on the pension roll of said state Georgia of Appling County on March 04, 1920 when he died. H. Abbott to whom in the county of Appling, in the State of Georgia , she was married on the 25th day of September in the year of 1872; & that she remained his wife & resided with him to the date of his death March the 04th of 1920 & that she has not since his death remarried . At the time of his death he was a resident of Appling County, within the State of Georgia and he was on the Confederate pension roll of the state and paid a pension of $100.00 in 1920 in Appling County per annum on account of being a soldier in Company “A” of 4th Georgia Cavalry.
