Weaver of Baxley have in their possession a commission issued to Major T.F. Thomas, the grandfather of Mrs. Weaver, and who helped to fight the English at the battle of New Orleans commanded by “Old Hickory.” The commission is signed by James Madison, president and James Monroe, secretary of war.
