                          PROSPEROUS WILLACOOCHEE
                              3 FEBRUARY 1893
           The Town Thronged by People from the Surrounding Counties.
     Willacoochee, Ga. Feb. 3.--The town continues to grow. The crowds of people
that throng the streets daily from Coffee, Irwin, Berrien, and Clinch counties
are evidence that this is one of the most prosperous interior towns in wiregrass
Georgia. Among the new enterprises here is a new business to be opened soon at
Dougherty's corner by Gammage & Lovejoy of Leliaton. The Meyerson Bros. of
Americus also intend opening a full line of general merchandise in the Johnson
building at an early day.
     Amos Porcher is engaged in erecting a large building on a nice lot near the
depot to be used as a dwelling and store house.
     J. J. Parker is having the lumber cut and placed for the erection of
another dwelling on a lot in the rear of J. H. McCranie's.
     Through the energies of E. V. Newbern two copies of the Willacoochee
Advertiser have gone out to advertise our enterprising people and the splendid
resources of this section.
     Now that we have a large woodrack here all trains stop at this place, which
is a convenience to the people. We need nothing more than a much larger and more
commodious depot. The present one is not half large enough for the carloads of
freights that are being unloaded here.
     The live stock trade has been heavy here this season. Another lot of Texas
ponies will arrive within a few days.
     House to rent were never in greater demand than at the present time.
