A native of Rochelle, GA. Mr. Adams was born April 26, 1935, son Ola Smith and J John Benjamin Adams. He worked for many years at Cady Bog Co. and later at P ProGro Plant in Willacoochee as a supervisor. Mr. Adams was a member of Indian M Mount Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, John Adams and a d daughter, Bobbie Jean Smith. Survivors include, wife, Madeline Adams of Axson, GA; son, Preston Adams of Pearson, GA; 5 daughters, Madie Rivers and husband Ricky of Axson, GA, Pam Garrett and husband James of Ellijay, GA, Barbara Metts and husband Michael of Mora, GA, May Luke and husband Keith of Axson, GA, Sylvia Josey and husband Ricky of Hazlehurst, GA; brothers, Bo Adams and wife Bonnie Sue of Cogdell, GA, Charlie James Adams and wife Kitty of Axson, GA; sisters, Dale Curry of Atlanta, GA, Leola Strickland of Waycross, GA; 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Adams were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at Indian Mound Baptist Church with Rev. Clayton Davis, Rev. Edgar Musgrove, and Rev. Hardy Crosby officiating. Special music selections were grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Serving as active pallbearers were D.J. Gurley, Dusty Bagley, Jeremy Garrett, J John Carmichael, Justin Josey, Mitchell Adams, Dekota Bennett. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Spikes, Bill and Kay McCranie, Ronnie Hardy, Buddy Thrift, Charles O’Berry, Terry Morris, Layne Gurley, Darrell Cooper, Da David Rooks.
