A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Bennett was born, January 7, 1929, daughter of Charlie M. and Minnie Mixon Ballance. She was a homemaker and a member of Ozias Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bennett. Survivors include, six sons, James Edge and wife Barbara of Pearson, GA, Johnny Edge and wife Doris of Nashville, GA, Gene Edge and wife Tricia of Pearson, GA, Bobby Edge of Pearson, GA, Wayne Edge of Pearson, GA, Frankie Bennett and wife Kristi of Douglas, GA, three stepsons, Levon Bennett and wife Pam of Okl, City, OK, Billy Bennett of Hope Valley, RI, Buck Bennett and wife Patricia of Axson, GA; stepdaughter, Judy Naylor and husband Ralph of Hope Valley, RI; 31 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Bennett were held at 11 a.m. Monday morning January 29, 2007 at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Johnson and Rev. Allan Arowood officiating. Special musical selection included "In His Arms I'm Not Afraid" and "This Is Just What Heaven Means To Me" rendered by Michael Johnson, soloist and pianist. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Francine Fender, pianist. The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were grandsons, Clyde Edge, John John Edge, Jamie Edge, John Edge, Timmy Edge, Gene Edge, Stanley Bennett, Charlie Edge. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Scott Clanton, Chris McDuffie, Leroy Reliford II, Leroy Reliford III. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of arrangements.
