She was born in Empire, GA on August 5, 1906 and spent the first part of her life in Pearson and then the past 40 years in Waycross. Mrs. Bennett is the daughter of the late Edward Hood and Patience Ann Parker. She was the loving mother of five children and perfected the art of homemaking for them. The loves of Mrs. Bennett's life were her family and her church. Loving matriarch of a 140-member family, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Eli Bennett of Axson, GA, daughters, Edna Louis Stone (Bud, deceased) of Jacksonville, FL, and Thelma Lee Martin (Alex, deceased) of Jackson, GS. She is survived by two daughters, Myrtice Skinner (husband (Shelton) of Pearson and JoAnne Douglas (Edward); son, Edward Bennett of Waycross; 15 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 69 great great grandchildren, two great great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relative also survive. Baptized at 8 year of age, Mrs. Bennett was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). She loved her faith and enjoyed worshiping at a LDS Temple. She was an active member of her church and showed her love for fellow members through the Church's Relief Society helping those in need. She was also a Visiting Teacher, visiting family members in their homes, ensuring their well-being and spiritual development. Mrs. Bennett also loved flower gardening, quilt making and traveling. She was known to many as the best cook in Atkinson County. She also enjoyed music and singing, especially church hymns. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Waycross Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located on Central Ave.. Burial followed at Little Utah Cemetery in Axson, GA Pallbearers were Richard Stone, Dakota Douglas, Ben Stone, Kevin Ashe, Mark Stone, Andrew Walker.
