Atkinson County Citizen - October 18, 2007
 Mr. Charles Edward Bennett, age 59, of Pearson, GA passed away Tuesday, 
October 9, 2007, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended 
illness.
 A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Bennett was born January 14, 1948, son of the 
late Harvey Hoke and Otha Lee Benefield Johnson. He was a logger in the timber 
industry and had previously worked with Mullis Logging Company. Mr. Bennett 
attended Covenant Outreach Ministries and was preceded in death by one sister, 
Carrie Sue McDonald and brother, Harvey Lee Bennett.
 Survivors include son, Charles Carroll Bennett and wife Lynn of Statesville, 
NC; daughter, Shirley Rose Beverly of Douglas, GA; his mother, Otha Lee (Dutch) 
Johnson of Pearson, GA; brother, WIlliam Thomas (Pal) Bennett of Pearson, GA; 
sisters, Willene Carter of Pearson, GA and Joanne Gardner of Pearson, GA; four 
grandchildren, Jessica Beverly, Joshua Beverly, Amber Bennett and Hope 
Bennett.; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
 Funeral services for Mr. Bennett were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 12, 
2007, at Covenant Outreach Ministries, in Pearson GA with Rev Robert Spivey 
officiating. Special musical selections included, "Drink from my Saucer," 
and "Help Me Get Down on my Knees, So I Can Get Back On my Feet" presented by 
tape. The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Steve Anderson, Kenny Lawrence, Jack Stone, 
Michael Stone, Edwin McDonald, Hoke E. Bennett.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of arrangements.
