Atkinson County Citizen - September 13, 2012
 Mrs. Mary Jernigan Boone, age 77, of Axson, GA passed away Monday, September 3
3, 2012 at her home following an extended illness.
 A native of Homestead, FL, Mrs. Boone was born August 28, 1935, daughter of 
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Eugene and Ruth Emma Dolan Jernigan. Before moving to Axson
Axson over 26 years ago, Mrs. Boone worked in Miami Beach, FL as a Telephone a
and Elevator Operator for Sterling Hotel. She was active in the Pearson Senior C
Citizens Group and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Boone was of the Methodist faith a
and a member of the Pearson United Methodist Church where she was active in the U
UMW and served as treasurer for many years. She was preceded in death by her h
husband, Mr. Bobby Boone.
 Survivors include; sons Wayne Hyder and wife Tammy of Tampa, FL, Ernest Hyder 
and wife Valerie of Miami, FL and Darian Boone and wife Kristi of Axson, GA; 
daughter, Debra Brown and husband Gerry of Kannapolis, NC; brothers, Charlie 
Jernigan of Key Largo, FL, John Chapman; sisters, Ruth Carter of Florida City, 
FL and Cathy Mattingly of SC; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and s
several nieces and nephews also survive.
 Funeral services for Mrs. Boone were held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 11 
a.m. at Pearson United Methodist Church with Rev. Evelyn Duvall officiating. 
The eulogy was given by Mrs. Evon Floyd. Special musical selections 
included, “I Can Only Imagine” and “Go Rest High on that Mountain” rendered by Jo
John Lang and Glenda Lang, with John Lang accompanying at the piano. Soft music fo
for the prelude and postlude was provided by John Lang, pianist. 
 The interment followed in Union Hill Church Cemetery in Pearson, GA.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Darian Boone, Mitchell Boone, Barry Lang, 
Jeff Hyder, Chris Hyder, Matt Hyder.
 Honorary pallbearers were Pearson Senior Citizens Group, Women of the United M
Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society, Glenda Lang, Eula Cook, Sara S
Stanford, Margaret Boone, Betty Sumner and Devote Mizell.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson was in charge of the ar
