Atkinson County Citizen - July 24, 2008
 Mrs. Linda McDonald Bowen, age 60, of Pearson, GA passed away Friday, July 18, 
2008 at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, GA following a brief 
illness.
 A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Bowen was born February 17, 1948 daughter of 
Thomas E. "Tom" and Evelyn McKinnon McDonald. She worked for many years at the 
Willacoochee Elementary School as a Food Service worker. Her church membership 
was at Holy Family Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, 
J. C. Bowen and a sister Peggy Jones.
 Survivors include, Jake Bowen and wife Angie of Douglas, GA; daughter Sandra 
Summerlin and husband, Mack of Pearson, GA; three brothers, Fred McDonald of 
Pearson, GA, Calvin McDonald of Pearson and Luke McDonald of Pearson, GA; three 
sister, Sue White and husband, Doodle of Pearson, GA, Laverne Carver and 
husband Craig of Pearson, GA and Ruth McDonald of Pearson, GA; two 
grandchildren; Marcus and Shanna Summerlin.; several nieces and nephews also 
survive.
 Funeral services for Mrs. Bowen were held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008 
at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Lucree and Rev. Raymond 
Burch officiating. Mrs. Bowen's sister Sue White did Spiritual Readings. 
Special music included "Amazing Grace" played by Michelle Howell organist. Soft 
music for the prelude and the postlude was provided by Michelle Howell 
organist. The interment followed in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Jake Bowen, Mack Summerlin, Marcus 
Summerlin, Donald Summerlin, B.J. Kight, Claude "Doodle" White.
 Honorary pallbearers were Fred McDonald, Calvin McDonald and Luke McDonald.
 Relihan Funeral home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
