Atkinson County Citizen - May 2004
 Mr. Alonzo Cruz Castillo, age 12, of Axson, GA died on Sunday, May 16, 2004 as 
a result of a drowning accident that occurred while he was attempting to save 
the lives of his two young sisters in Atkinson County, GA.

 Mr. Castillo, a native of Coffee Co., GA was born November 11, 1991, son of 
Victoria Cruz Castillo and the late Alberto Castillo. He was a student at 
Pearson Elementary School in Pearson, GA.

 Survivors include his mother, Victoria Cruz Castillo of Axson, sisters, Laura 
Castillo and Ester Castillo, both of Axson; grandparents, Armado Cruz and 
Delores Abreo and Venancio Castillo and Felisa Chavez, all of Mexico.

 Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 23, 2004 at 4 p.m. at the Pearson 
Elementary School with Rev. Margarito Perez officiating.

 Special music was presented by Abimael Castillo and Rev. Victor Mendoza. 
Burial followed in the Stokesville Church Cemetery in Atkinson Co., GA.

 Pallbearers were Mario Francisco, Jose Amador, Amado Andrade, Alejandro 
Ledesma, Freddy Amador, Claudio Castillo.

 Sims Funeral Home of Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
