A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Corbitt was born Feb. 26, 1933 son of John and Florence Clement Corbitt. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Woodmen of the World. Survivors include: Wife Bonnie Hindman Corbitt of Pearson, GA, 1 stepson: Andrew Williams, 1 brother: W.E. Corbitt of Pearson, GA 1 niece: Eve Corbitt of Cleveland, TN, step-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Corbitt were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Sunnyside Baptist Church with Brother Tommy Deems and Brother Mitchell Deems officiating. Special musical selections "Blessed Assurance" and "Amazing Grace" were presented by the attending congregation with Lilla Deems accompanying at the piano, Lilla Deems pianist provided soft music for the Prelude and Postlude. The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Herman Tucker, Julian Haskins, Terry Morris, Michael Swails, Julian Claude Clement, and Hampton Giddens.
