Atkinson County Citizen - May 3, 2012
 Mr. Steve “Tankie” Crawford departed this life on April 22, 2012. He was born 
on September 30, 1966 in Homerville, GA to Elder Joe and Jennie Crawford. At an 
early age he joined Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, Sandybottom, GA remaining a 
member until his life’s journey ended.
 He was a 1985 graduate of Atkinson County High School and employed at Langboard
Langboard Industries until his departure.
 He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joe Crawford Sr. and L
Lillie Mae Rivers and maternal grandparents, Roosevelt and Catherine Owens B
Baker, Aunt Mattie Lee Rivers, Uncle Jessie McGriff Sr. and five cousins.
 He leaves to cherish his memories loving parents, Elder Joe and Jennie 
Crawford of Pearson, GA; sister, Hattie (David) Moore of Pearson, GA; brother, 
Harold (Anitra) Crawford of Alma, GA; finance Kimberly Edmond; daughter, Kayla 
Ellis grandson, Isaac Cannon, Jr. all of Dupont, GA; brother-in-law, Cornelius 
Moore of Pearson, GA; five aunts, Maggie McGriff of Waycross, GA, Barbara 
(Elise) Johnson, Verdie (Clyde) Andrews and Deloris Merritt all of Pearson, GA; 
Jason Geraldine Mitchell of Waverly, GA; four uncles, Oliver Baker, Billie Ross 
(Shirlene) Baker both of Pearson, GA, Will (Alberta) Rivers of Ocilla, GA and 
George Merritt of Douglas, GA; nieces, one very special niece, Courtney (CoCo) 
Moore; nephews and a host of cousins (sisters and brothers); godmother Daisy 
Favors of Pearson, GA, five special friends, Tony Ash, Stacy Hill, Oscar 
Wilson, Kenny Roundtree and Chesley Whittington and many, many sorrowing 
friends. His spiritual parents, Mr. Lavon and Claudette Gaskins-Carter of P
Pearson, GA, The Cooper and Holmes family.
 Funeral services for Mr. Steve Crawford was held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 
the gymnasium in Pearson, GA at 2 p.m. with Elder Jimmy D. Baker officiating 
with musical selections by Minister Brandon Moore & Sis. Anita Jeffery, George
Merrit
Merritt and the Power of Deliverance Choir.
 Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Pearson, GA.
 Honorary pallbearers were Petula Paulk, Shelia Baker, Janet Hudson, Shawanda 
Merritt, Jessie McGriiff, Jr., Charles Mitchell, Will Rivers Jr., Amanda 
McGriff, Ricky Rivers, Shannon Gibson, Amanda Baker, Freddie Hudson, Marcus 
Gibson, Kevin Walker, Madie Rivers, Trina Gibson, Bernard Miller, Ray Bacon, A
Angela Miller, Pam Walker, Sherry Bacon, Denise Harmon, Stan McGriff, Keith H

 Active pallbearers were Antonio Lott, Dedrick Buckley, Roderick Baker, Saul 
Core, Jr., Shaddrick Baker, Sammy Gibson.

Family.
