A native of Axson, GA, Mr. Davis was born on June 18, 1920, son of Joseph and E Elizabeth Nettles Davis. Mr. Davis served in the United States Army during W World War II where he received a purple heart. He was a retired farmer and a m member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include, wife, Willie Pearl Davis of Axson, GA; four sons, Larry Davis and wife Linda of Axson, GA, Wayne Davis of Axson, GA, Jerome Davis and wife Vonita of Axson, GA, Kirt Davis of Axson, GA; three daughters, Delia Ann Stacy and husband Hershel of Blackshear, GA, Mary Beth Sanderson and husband Danny of Huntsville, AL, Alysia Davis of Albany, GA; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Davis was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in Pearson, GA with Bishop Kevin Merrell, Bishop Steve Sirmans and Bishop Herbert Davis officiating. Special music selections included grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Davis was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in Pearson, GA with Bishop Kevin Merrell, Bishop Steve Sirmans and Bishop Herbert Davis officiating. Special music selections included “Go Rest High on That Mountain” by cd, “One Of These Days” rendered by Kristin Holton accompanied by cd and “Nearer My God To Thee” rendered by the attending congregation with Ellen Hardee at the piano. Soft music for prelude and postlude was provided by pianist, Ellen Hardee. The interment followed in Utah Cemetery in Axson, GA with dedication of the grave by Bishop Herbert Davis and Military Honors rendered by an honor Guard Contingent from Ft. Stewart, GA. Serving as active pallbearers were grandsons, Rhen Davis, Cameron Davis, Grayson Davis, Jayson Davis, Justin Sanderson, Brandon Davis, Greg Vickers, Shane Davis, Clay Davis.
