Atkinson County Citizens - December 29, 2011
 Mr. Lloyd Elton Deen age 84 of Pearson, GA passed away Friday, December 23, 20
2011 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA following a short illness.
 A native of Pearson, GA, Mr. Deen was born October 4, 1927, son of William and E
Estelle Hodges Deen. He retired after 30 years as a supervisor at Owens I
Illinois Plant in Clyattville, GA and he was a retired cattle farmer. Mr. Deen w
was member of the NRA, Georgia Forestry Commission, and member of Mt. Zion B
Baptist Church in Axson, GA, where he served as Chairman of the Deacons and A
Adult Sunday School Teacher. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII.
 Survivors include wife, Doris Vickers Deen of Pearson, GA; daughters, June 
Deen of Atlanta, GA, Ann Deen of Douglas, GA; nephew, Kenneth Deen of Venice, 
FL; nieces, Bonnie Deen of Atlanta, GA, Dr’ee Mathews of Auburndale, FL;
 Funeral services for Mr. Deen were held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 26, 2011 
at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. William Pope and Rev. Jack Chaney 
officiating. Special musical selections were “That Long Black Train” rendered 
by Mike Spivey with CD accompaniment and “Victory in Jesus” rendered by the atten
attending congregation with Patricia Corbitt on the piano. Soft music for prelu
prelude and postlude was provided by Patricia Corbitt, pianist. 
 The interment followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
 Active pallbearers were Tom Morris, Ray Haskins, Julian Haskins, Clyde Gurley, Jim
Jim Mock, Darwin Corbitt.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of arrangements.
