J. Delk, age 79, of Pearson, GA passed away Saturday morning January 29 29, 2011 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, GA following an extended il illness. Born April 19, 1931 in Clinch County, Mr. Delk was the son of Zebedee "Zeb" a and Vera Hewitt Delk. He had made his home in Atkinson County most of his life, w was a retired heavy equipment operator and attended Ozias Freewill Baptist C Church. After retirement he enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was preceded in d death by a grandson, Edward Davis. Survivors include wife, Emmalene Murray Delk of Pearson, GA; son, David "Pat" Delk of Axson, GA; 4 daughters, Vera Lois Delk of Pearson, GA, Wylene Gurley and husband Layne of Pearson, GA, Diane Davis and husband Gene of Pearson, GA, Teresa Mizell and husband Wesley of Axson, GA; sister, Valerie Walker of Eufaula, AL; brother, Estel Lee Delk of Lee Summit, MO; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Delk were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at Ozi Ozias Freewill Baptist Church with Rev.Larry Johnson officiating. Special mus musical selections were "I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy" and "When I Get Whe Where I'm Going" presented by cd. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was pro provided by Joyce Johnson, pianist and Bob Andrews on bass guitar. The int interment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Tony Hernandez, Stacy Wilson, Christopher Davis, Kyle De Delk, Eric Mizell, Clay Mizell. Honorary pallbearers were Lewis Gurley, James and Betty Joyce, James Parley G Gore, Jr., Kenneth Walker, Glen Walker, Wad Sears, Jr., Gene Sizemore, Johnny J Jewell, Terry Morris, Jack and Marie Corbitt, Clifford Pope, Buck Morris.
