A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Delk was born September 4, 1946, son of Beecher and Grace Newmans Delk. He had made his home in Lake City, FL for the past 23 years and had previously worked in the Lawn and Landscape business before becoming disabled. Mr. Delk was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. and had received many numerous awards including, a Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Willacoochee, GA and attended Hopeful Baptist Church in Lake City, FL. Survivors include his wife, Pricilla Delk of Lake City, FL; four sons, Jerry Delk, Jr. and wife, Jossie of Lake City, FL, Eddie Delk and wife Tammy of Sheridan, WY, Greg Delk of Galveston, TX, and Brian Delk of Lakeland, FL; three brothers, Larry Delk and wife Delane of Jacksonville, FL, John Delk of Jacksonville, FL, Danny Delk Sr. of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Glenda Kirkland and husband James of Jacksonville, FL and Carroll Fernandez of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Delk were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Willacoochee, GA with Rev. Bill Huffstuttler officiating. Special musical selections included, "Precious Lord" and "Pass Midnight" rendered by soloist, Gail Moore, accompanied by tape, and "How Great Thou Art" rendered acappella, by soloist Gail Moore. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Bonnie Kunberger, pianist. The interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery with special song, "Amazing Grace" rendered acappella by the congregation. Serving as active pallbearers were Danny Delk, Jr., Richard Delk, Cody Delk, J.T. Delk, Robert Marshall and Johnny Delk, Jr. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA is in charge of the arrangements.
