Fender, age 83 of Pearson, GA passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, GA following an extended illness. A native of Fairfax, FL, Mrs. Fender was born May 26, 1926, daughter of Dennis a and Emma McGovern McDuffie. She had made her home in Atkinson County for most o of her life and was a homemaker. She attended New Bethel Church. Her husband T Terrell Fender preceded her in death. Survivors include 2 daughters, Elizabeth Ann McGovern of Willacoochee of Willacoochee, GA, Betty Gillis and husband Johnny of Pearson, GA; sons, William Fender and wife Crystal of Pearson, GA, Jack Fender and wife Sheila of Pearson, Ga; sister, Ruth Strickland of Blackshear, Ga; brother Glenn McDuffie of Willacoochee, GA; grandchildren, Charlotte Gamez, April Hodges, Rhonda O'Berry, Buddy Jordan, Terrell Jordan, Tasha Davis, Ansley Batten, Mandy Harrell and Jonathan DeCosta; 10 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, goddaughter, Cecelia Diaz and s several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Fender were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at New Bethel Church with Rev. J.A. Anderson and Rev. Buddy Jordan officiating. Special musical selections included "Hand Full of Weeds" rendered by Louise Stephens and Lavone Thomas with taped accompaniment and "Calvary, the Reason Wh Why," "My Grace is Sufficient For You," and "Resting In The Shadow" rendered by so soloist Dottie Hodges with taped accompaniment. Mavis McKinnon provided soft mu music for the prelude and the postlude. Serving as active pallbearers were Lige Gillis, Kane Dillingham, C.V. Gillis, P Preston Adams, Mitchell Deems, Nipper Gillis.
