Fussell age 90 of Axson, GA passed away Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Southeast Georgia Healthcare System in Brunswick, GA following an extended illness. A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Fussell was born April 26, 1918, son of John and Minnie Mizell Fussell. During his life, he worked as a school bus driver and mechanic for the Atkinson County School system, as well as a mail carrier and farmer. He was a veteran of WWII and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints were he served in the Bishopric as 2nd counselor in the Axson Ward and 1st counselor in the Pearson Ward. Survivors include wife of 70 years, Mrs. Frankie Mae Bowen Fussell of Axson, GA; daughters, Ada Faye Farlow of Milledgeville, GA, Sandra Jones and husband John of Brunswick, GA; six grandchildren, Tal Farlow, Cal Farlow, Nicole Loudermilk, Loran Kip Farlow, Sandra Anita Pope, John Alton Jones II; six great grandchildren, Lee Caitlin Farlow, Randi Zane Farlow, Lauren Michele Farlow, Kalyn Loudermilk, Loran Coley Pope, J.D. Pope; brothers, Billy Fussell of Waycross, GA and Johnny Frank Fussell of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephew also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Fussell were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pearson, GA with Bishop Lamar Park, Bishop Steve Sirmans and Bishop Dan Vickers officiating. Special musical selections included "Oh My Father" rendered by Angie Odum and Jeffrey McGowan with Ellen Hardee accompanying at the piano, "Abide With Me" rendered acappella by soloist Angie Odum and "Love One Another" rendered by Angie Odum with Ellen Hardee accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the prelude and postlude were provided by Ellen Hardee, pianist. The interment followed in Little Utah Cemetery with the dedication of the grave given by Bishop Lamar Park. Serving as active pallbearers were Tal Farlow, Cal Farlow, Loran Kip Farlow, John Alton Jones II, Jeffrey Donnie Pope, Mark Loudermilk, J.D. Pope.
