A native of Pearson, GA, Mr. Guess was born on September 25, 1954, son of Lonnie Eulice and Lena Miller Guess. Mr. Guess was an employee of Southwestern Services, Inc., where he worked as a construction worker before poor health forced his retirement. He enjoyed softball and he and his brother Keith played competitive softball for several years. Donnie was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended Axson Church of God of Prophecy. Suvivors include, wife, Carrie Guess of Pearson, GA, son, Payton Guess and wife, Amanda of Greensburg, PA, daughter, Leyna Hudgins and husband, Greg of Brunswick, GA, 2 stepchildren, Shawn Vining and wife, Mary of Millwood, GA, Cindy Register and husband, T.J. of Axson, GA.; brother, Keith Guess and wife, Amy of Broxton, GA; 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Guess were held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Axson Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Rob Hutto, Rev. Edward Mathews, and Larry Burch officiating. Special music selections included "I Won't Let Go" and "One More Day" by CD and "What A Day That Will Be" by Tammy and Charles Wood with Charles Wood on the guitar. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Scott Gillis, pianist. The interment followed in Union Hill Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Dewayne Guess, Mike Nugent, Rodney Corbitt, Roy Metts, Allan Guess and David McReady. Honorary pallbearers were James Gore, Jr., Tim Coleman, Tom Morris, Ronnie Spikes, Mike Rowe, Keith Luke, Ken Giddens, Barry Lang and Greg Brown.
