Atkinson County Citizen - August 10, 2006
 Mrs. Bessie Crosby Guess, age 95 of Pearson, GA passed away Wednesday morning, 
August 2, 2006 at Shady Acres Nursing Home in Douglas, GA following an extended 
illness.
 Mrs. Guess was born December 16, 1910, daughter of Lee and Pearl Smith Crosby 
in Coffee County; a part which is now Atkinson County. She retired after 32 
years as a Food Service Worker for the Atkinson County School System and was 
also an excellent seamstree. She was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Guess was 
preceded in death by her husband, Joe Guess and a son, Jackie Lee Guess.
 Survivors include two sons, Freddie Guess and wife Eddie of Jesup, GA and 
Bobby Guess and wife May Alice of Pearson, GA and grandchildren, Jody Guess and 
wife Melissa, Carol Cooler and husband Bobby, Beck Gaskins and husband David 
and Eddie V. Guess eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews 
also survive.
 Funeral services for Mrs. Guess were held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2006 at 
Sweetwater Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Johnson and Rev. Raymond Cason 
officiating. Special musical selections included, "I Won't Have TO Cross Jordan 
Alone" and "Not Afraid" rendered by soloist/pianist, Michael Johnson. Soft 
music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Michael Johnson, pianist. 
The interment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery.
 Serving as active pallbearers were Jerry White, James Gore, Jr., Terry Palmer, 
Irby Barlow, Clyde Gurley and D.Q. Pittman.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
