Gurley, better known as "Granny Fannie" age 93, of Shady Acres Nursing Home, formerly of Pearson, GA went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday evening, November 28, 2006 at Shady Acres Nursing Home. Mrs. Gurley was born October 7, 1913 in a part of Clinch County that is now Atkinson County, daughter of Dan and Mary Catherine Deen Pearson. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Gurley was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Gurley, son, Jim Gurley and two daughters, Reba Gurley and Frances Gurley May. Survivors include six sons; Curtis Gurley and wife Betty of Millwood, GA, Clovis Gurley and wife Helen of Axson, GA, Lloyd Gurley and wife July of Douglas, GA, John Henry Gurley and wife Betty of Chula, GA, Clyde Gurley and wife Jerrie of Pearson, GA, Marion Gurley and wife Jane of Yulee, FL; four daughters, Mary Ellen Wilcox and husband Buddy of Sparks, GA, Catherine Taft and husband Quillan of Pearson, GA, Odessa Taft and husband Clifford of Pearson, GA, Callie Williams and husband Al of Pearson, GA, 37 grandchildren, 81 great children, 44 great-great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 14 step- great-grandchildren, 9 step-great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Gurley were held at 2 p.m. Friday December 1, 2006 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. William Pope and Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Special musical selections included "Earth's Loss, Heaven's Gain," rendered by Donna Jordan with taped accompaniment, "Roses Will Bloom Again" rendered by Pam Huffstutler with taped accompaniment and "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" rendered by Bill and Pam Huffstutler with Bill Huffstutler accompanying on the guitar. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Elaine Akins, pianist. The interment followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were grandsons Don Gurley, Darona Gurley, Kenny Wilcox, Dave Gurley, James May, Randy Taft, Darrell Pittman, Craig Gurley. Serving as honorary pallbearers were grandsons Elden Gurney, Ricky Gurney, Stanley Gurney, Jonathan Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Dennis Wilcox, Emory Gurley, Chris May, Mike Pittman, Joshua Gurley, Michael Gurley.
