A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Harrell was born March 27, 1921, daughter of William and Clara Vickers Giddens. She retired as a Food Service Manager after 31 years of service for the Atkinson County High School and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Harrell was preceded in death by her husband, J.A. Harrell. Survivors include three sons, Dale Harrell and wife Bobbie of Axson, GA, Bennie Harrell and wife Bessie of Pearson, GA and Jed Harrell of Pearson, GA; daughter DeLane Dees and husband Peter of Mt. Vernon, GA; brother, Revis Giddens of Pearson, GA, sister, Alma Martineau of Round Lake, IL; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Harrell were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Gillard and Rev. Jimmy Futch officiating. Special musical selections included, "When I Travel My Last Mile" rendered by the Mt. Pleasant Church Choir with Betty Smith accompanying at the piano and "Amazing Grace" rendered by the congregation, acappella. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Betty Smith, pianist. The interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were grandsons, Lewis Harrell, John Harrell, Pat Dees, Paul Dees, Robert Harrell, Benjamin Harrell. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Men of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
