She was born in Clinch County on June 29, 1915. She lived all of her adult life in Axson, GA. She was a life-long homemaker and an LPN nurse for 29 years serving at Memorial Hospital in Waycross and Clinch Memorial Hospital in Homerville. She attended Axson Evangelistic Church along with Union Hill Congregational Christian Church. She was a friend to all who knew her. She is survived by, two sons, Harold "Buddy" James and wife Grace from Douglas, GA, Tommie James and wife Barbara of Axson. One sister, Mary Johnson of Waycross, GA; grandchildren, Ard James, Dickie James wife Shirley, Michelle James Moore (husband David); Jamie (wife Andrea), eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Aubrey James, five brothers, Herman Kight, Clarence Kight, Nolan Kight, Ward Kight, and Alan Kight and sister, Irene Christopher. Funeral services for Mrs. James were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Union Hill Congregational Christian Church with Rev. James Drake officiating. Special family memories were given by Mrs. James' daughter in law Grace James. Special musical selections included, "God Be With You," rendered by the congregation with Beth Paulk accompanying at the piano, and "Consider The Lillies," rendered by Paul and Marie Holland, with Paul Holland accompanying on guitar. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Beth Paulk, pianist. The interment followed in Union Hill Cemetery with special musical selection, "Amazing Grace," rendered acappella by Paul and Marie Holland. Serving as active pallbearers were Ard James, Dickie James, Jamie James, David Moore, Larry Burch, Doug Mullis. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
