Born February 11, 1956 in Atkinson County, GA, Mr. James was the son of Woodrow and Gertrude Presley James. He had made his home in Gainesville, GA for many years before moving back to Axson, GA. He was a computer analyst and a 1 1974 graduate of Atkinson County High School. He was a member of Brown Bridge C Community Church. Mr. James was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Woodrow J James. Survivors include, mother, Gertrude James of Axson, GA; wife, Elaine James of Axson Axson, GA; son, Robert Elliot James of Amity, OR; brothers, Boyd James and wife Peggy of Axson, GA and Jerry James and wife Linda of Moultrie, GA; sisters, Paula McMullan and husband Mike of Forsyth, GA and Pam Witherspoon and husband Mike of Axson, GA; sister-in-law, Cindy Fortenberry of Jacksonville, GA and mother-in-law, Eleanor Zelusky of Jacksonvile, GA; several nieces and nephews a also survive. Funeral services for Mr. James were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Union Hill Congregational Christian Church with Bro. Mike Witherspoon officiating. A special “Life Verse” was given by his wife, Elaine James. The eulogy for Mr. James was given by his sister, Pam Witherspoon. Special musical selections included, “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” rendered by Benjamin McMullan, Joy McMullan, Mark McMullan, Lauren McMullan and Rebecca McMullan with Rebecca McMullan accompanying at the piano, “God Gave me You” rendered by soloist and guitarist Joel Witherspoon and “Awkward Tribute” rendered by s soloist and pianist Joel Witherspoon. Soft music for the prelude and postlude w was rendered by pianist, Rebecca McMullan. The interment followed in the Union Hill Cemetery with “How Great is Our God” rendered by all who were in attendance, accompanied by Joel Witherspoon on the guitar.
