Atkinson County Citizen - November 10, 2005
 Mr. James Lamar "Kirk" Kirkland, 79, of  Putney died on Tuesday, November 8, 
2005 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. The funeral service was held 
today at 11 a.m. at Harvey Funeral Chapel in Dawson with Rev. Wyman Richardson 
officiating. 

 Interment followed at 3 p.m. in the Willacoochee City Cemetery.

 Mr. Kirkland was born in Lanier Co., July 23, 1926, son of the late Timothy 
Jackson Kirkland and Minnie Kight Kirkland. He lived for many years in 
Willacoochee and had been a resident of Putney since 1962. He was a retired PBX 
installation and repair technician with Southern Bell Telephone Company.

 Mr. "Kirk" loved the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, marksman, fisherman, and 
horseman.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, 
Margaret Kirkland, in 2004.

 Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Kirkland of Putney and Tina Halverson 
and her husband, Terry, of Albany; brother, Russell Kirkland of Willacoochee; 
sister, Betty Bobitt of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Christopher 
Rogers and wife, Kim, of Winfield, PA, Tiffany Halverson and Trevin Halverson, 
both of Albany, Terra Warren and husband, Ryan, of Leesburg; and great-
grandchild, Payton Lizabeth Warren of Leesburg.

 Visitation was held Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Harvey Funeral Home.
