A native of Berrien Co., Mr Luke was born August 22, 1935 son Oel and Adell Taylor Luke. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and returned home where he farmed. Mr. Luke was a former member of the Atkinson County Commission for the Willacoochee District and a bus driver for the Atkinson County School System. He was a member of the Willacoochee First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Harry Luke, Norman Luke and Kenneth Luke and 2 sisters, Sara Corbitt and Debbie Luke. Survivors include: wife, Joeline R. Luke of Willacoochee; 2 daughters, Teresa Fay Luke of Birmingham, Al; and Clarissa Luke Medders of LaVergne, TN; 6 sisters; Mary Bernard and husband Billy of Jacksonville, FL, Doris Guthrie and husband, Sammy of Pearson, GA; Neta O'Berry and husband, Bert of Cochran, GA; Linda Stephens and husband, Dan of Hawksinville, GA; Martha Vazquez of Willacoochee, GA; Joyce Martin and husband, Lamar of Granteville, SC; 2 grandchildren, Courtney Medders, and Thomas Barton Medders. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Luke were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Willacoochoo, GA with Rev. Bill Huffstuttler, Rev. Steve Luke and Mr. Bill Luke officiating, Special musical selections included "Beulah Land" and "Go Rest High On That Mountain" rendered by Pam Huffstuttler with taped accompaniment. The interment followed in Willacoochee City Cemetery with full military Honors rendered by an Honor Guard Contingent from Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, GA.
