Leon Mancil, age 93, of Pearson, GA passed away Sunday, December 5, 2004 at Waycross Health and Rehab. Center in Waycross, GA following an extended illness. A native of Coffee Co., Rev. Mancil was born September 13, 1911 son of Henry Sr. and Mary Joiner Mancil. He was a retired Church of God of Prophecy minister and was also a retired carpenter, plumber and electrician. Rev. Mancil's church membership was the Pearson Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceded in death by his wife Estelle Moncrief Mancil, 2 sons Jerry Mancil and Gene Mancil and infant son Jack Mancil. Survivors include daughter, Mary Margaret Capps of Waycross, GA; brother, Noah Mancil of Broxton, GA; 3 grandson, Steve Capps, Wayne Mancil and Joe Mancil; two great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Rev. Mancil were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at the Pearson Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Hardy Crosby, Rev. Roy D. Mixon, Rev. Leon Wakefield and Rev. Jim Spivey officiating. Special musical selections included "Where Angels Fear to Tread" and "My Redeemer" rendered by Allen Jewel, Jessie Wayne Jewell and Kristina Harper with taped accompaniment and "Redeemed" rendered by the congregation with Bill Musgrove accompanying at the piano. The interment followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens with "Amazing Grace" rendered at the graveside. Serving as active pallbearers were Joe Mancil, Wayne Mancil, Steve Capps, Charlie Mancil, Billy Mancil and Noah Mancil Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers were J.E. Benefield, Rev. Leonard Pittman, Ellie Morris, Herman Tucker, J.D. Harper, Rev. Chester Williams, Bobby Mancil, Bobby Lashley, Ronald Stone and Men for the Pearson Church of God of Prophecy.
