Atkinson County Citizen - November 15, 2007
 Mrs. Doris Martin, age 78, of Cocoa, FL passed away Thursday, November 8, 
2007, following an extended illness.
 A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. Martin was born December 3, 1928, daughter 
of Henry and Ila Newbern. She retired after working many years as a secretary 
for the Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa, FL where she had resided for the past 
50 years. Mrs. Martin was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her 
husband, Jacob Martin.
 Survivors include son, Cecil Martin of Cocoa, FL; daughters, Karen Desislets 
of Atlanta, GA, Susan Whitehorn and husband, George of Atlanta, GA, Shirley 
Florance and husband, Jim of Orange, CA; brother, Thomas Newbern of Rockledge, 
FL; sister Marjorie Giddens of Pearson, GA; seven grandchildren, four great 
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
 Graveside funeral services and interment for Mrs. Martin were held at 1 p.m. 
Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Satilla Memorial Gardens in Douglas, GA with 
Rev. Jerry Worzella officiating.
 Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
