Durden http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00025.html#0006039 May 6, 2008, 8:04 pm The Atkinson County Citizen, Pearson, GA Mr. McClendon, 83, Retired Farmer-- Mr. Henry McClendon, age 83, of the Mora Community, Rt. 2, Willacoochee, passed away Thursday, July 13, 1995, at home following an extended illness. Mr. McClendon, a native of Coffee County, was born March 14, 1912, the son of the late Dennis and Margaret Burch McClendon. He was a retired farmer and a deacon and a member of the Mora Baptist Church. Survivors include: a wife, Blanch Wright McClendon, of the Mora Community; two daughters, Patricia Fussell and husband, Bobby and Betty Jean Merchant Ward and husband, Johnny of Douglas; one son, William H. McClendon of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Diane Baker, Debra Kirkland, Denise Merritt, Mike Merchant, Ann Clayton, Mary Joyce Viney; two step-grandchildren, Frankie Ward and Shirley Ward; two sisters, Marilzie Duren and Hazel Jackson both of Douglas; one sister in law, Edna McClendon, of Douglas; six great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 1995, at the Mora Baptist Baptist Church in the Mora Community, Willachoochee, with Rev. Warner Gutherie and Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Special music was provided by the Mora Baptist Church Choir as they sang, "No Tears In Heaven" and "Where The Roses Never Fade," with Brenda Moon accompanying at the piano. Interment followed at the Royals Church Cemetery in Atkinson County. Active pallbearers were: Harvey McClendon, Freddie McClendon, Steve Vickers, Thomas Flanders, Andrew McKinnon, and Johnny Burch. Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Olem Bennett, Rev. Ed Gilliard, Rev. Freeman O'Steen, Edward McKinnon, I.J. Roberson, Julian Sears, Dan Metts and Archie Hoge.
