McCranie Sr. age 66 of Willacoochee, GA passed away Monday, November 22, 2004 at home following an extended illness. A native of Atkinson County, Mr. McCranie was born January 10, 1938 son of Emden and Myrtle Slade McCranie. He had made his home in the Atlanta area before moving back to Willacoochee 8 years ago. He was retired from the laundry and dry cleaning business and retired security guard from Langboard, Inc. in Willacoochee, GA. Mr. McCranie was a member of the Willacoochee United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. His first wife Joan Claxton McCranie preceded him in death. Survivors include wife, Katherine Gaskins Tucker McCranie of Willacoochee, GA; 2 sons, Karl McCranie, Jr. and wife Jana of Buford, GA., Kirk McCranie of Buford, GA; 1 daughter Tracy Hunt and husband of Buford, GA; 4 step-children, Mike Tucker and wife Patricia of Willacoochee, GA, Mark Tucker and wife Angie of Willacoochee, GA, Kathy Farabow and husband Tommy of Pridgen, GA, Carmen Day and husband Scott of Ambrose, GA; 3 brothers, Bill McCranie and wife Kay of Willacoochee, Slade McCranie and wife, Margaret of Morven, GA, Mike McCranie of Alapaha, GA; 4 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. McCranie were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the Willacoochee United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Morrison and Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. The eulogy was given by Ed Tillman. Special musical selections included "How Great Thou Art" rendered by Craig McKinnon with Cranford Sutton accompanying at the piano, "I Bowed On My Knees and Cried Holy" rendered by Craig Farr by tape, "Victory in Jesus" and "Amazing Grace" rendered by the congregation with Cranford Sutton accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Cranford Sutton, pianist. The interment was held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2004 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Duluth, GA with Rev. Bobby Nix and Rev. Eddie Morrison officiating. Serving as active pallbearers were Ryan McCranie, Shea McCranie, Kyle McCranie, Blake McCranie, Daniel McCranie, Ann McCranie, Michael Tucker and Allison Tucker. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Hospice Caretakers, Iris Merritt, Mary Bailey, Ed Tillman, Quinton Dillingham, Jim Mills, Charlie Bray, Henry Neugent, Frank Hunter and Bill Yawn.
