 Rodney McGovern, 53, of Alapaha (formerly of Atkinson County) died April 8, 
2014, in Alapaha following a brief illness.
 A native of Coffee County, he was born February 13, 1961, to the late Hubert 
and Dorothy Johnson McGovern. He was employed with Dixon Farm Supply in Alapaha. 
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie McGovern.
 Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Michael Batten of 
Douglas; three sisters, Diane Mathis of Nashville, Angela White of Pearson, and 
Stephanie Bedgood and husband, William, of Pearson; sister-in-law, Shirley 
McGovern of Pearson; two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
 A graveside service was held April 10 at 4 p.m. at Arna Cemetery with Rev. 
Larry Johnson officiating. Special musical selections included “When I Get Where 
I’m Going,” “If I Had Only Known” and “Welcome Home” rendered by CD.
 Interment followed in Arna Cemetery.
 Active pallbearers were Ricky Bazemore, Keith Bazemore, Robbie Dale Bazemore, 
William Bedgood, Greg Exum, Darin Balance.
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson was in charge of arrangements.
