A native of Atkinson County, Mrs. McKinnon was born December 5, 1936, daughter of Aaron and Cappie White Mizell. She was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. McKinnon was preceded in death by a daughter, Lawanna Michell McKinnon, a son, Jesse Aaron McKinnon and a grandson, Jacob Bradley McKinnon. Survivors include her husband, Douglas McKinnon of Pearson, GA; son, Dougie McKinnon and wife Janice of Pearson, GA; daughter Deana McKinnon Thurston of Douglas, GA; three brothers, Orman Mizell of Axson, GA, Aaron Mizelle, Jr. and wife Jean of Warner Robins, GA and Harold E. Mizell and wife Katherine of Mineral Bluff, GA; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. McKinnon were held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2006 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pearson, GA with Bishop Lamar Park, Bishop Dan Vickers and Elder William O. Wildes officiating. A special poem written by Mrs. McKinnon was read by Brenda Stone and the eulogy was given by her brother, Harold E. Mizell. Special musical selections included, "Love At Home" rendered by the Pearson Ward Choir, with Ellen Hardee accompanying at the piano and "I Need The Every Hour" rendered by the congregation, under the direction of Mandi Corbitt with Ellen Hardee accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Ellen Hardee, pianist. The interment followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens with Elder Orman Mizell, dedicating the grave. Serving as active pallbearers were Paul Mizell, John Kight, Jason Mizell, Roy "Buddy" Mizell, Derrick McKinnon and Charlie Russ. Serving as honorary pallbearers were The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Pearson Ward) Relief Society Sisters and The Pearson High School Class of 1955.
