Mrs. Metts a native of Atkinson County, GA was born August 7, 1920, daughter of the late Homer Riley and Alice Gilbert Guess. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pearson, GA. She was the widow of the late Dan Metts. Brothers, Morris Guess and Riley Guess, sister, Mary Lou Guess Corbitt preceded her in death. Survivors include sos, Roy (Chris) Metts, Douglas, GA, Roger (Carylene) Metts, Homerville, GA; sisters, Jean Ellen Nugent, Willacoochee, GA, Ruth Bennett, Jacksonville, FL, Brother, Eulice Guess, Pearson, GA; grandchildren, Roger Metts, Jr. and Amanda Metts, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2007 at Sims Funeral Home Chapel in Douglas, GA with Rev. Talmadge Guess and Rev. Gerald Gardner officiating. The Golden Stage Trio sang "Beulah Land" and "Amazing Grace" with Rev. Den Weniger, pianist. Burial followed in the Sweetwater Church Cemetery near Pearson, GA. Active pallbearers were George Dempsey, Donnie Guess, Keith Guess, Dewayne Guess, Mike Nugent, Edwin Youngblood. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Moore, George Relihan, William Earl Giddens, Doug Ward. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
