Mitchell, age 70, of Pearson, GA. passed away Monday morning, Oct. 2, 2006 at So. GA Medical Center in Valdosta, GA. following an extended illness. Mr. Mitchell was born in Shelbyville, IN, Dec. 2, 1935, son of Lloyd and Carried Margaret Craves Mitchell. He was a long time resident of Atkinson Co. where he retired from the State of Georgia Highway Department after 32 years of service. Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was also an active member of the Sunday morning Men's Fellowship Breakfast Group where he was renowned for his biscuit making. Survivors include his wife, Syble Clement Mitchell of Pearson, GA; one son, Robert Lewis Mitchell and wife Michell of Pearson, GA; one daughter, Kizzie Patricio and husband Richard of Hiram, GA. two brothers, David Mitchell of Whiteland, IN. and Charles Mitchell of Franklin, IN; four sisters, Ruth Anderson of Grafton, ND; Shirley Barnard of Zephyrhills, FL, Judy Byers of Royal Center, IN; and Gail Doucey of Greenwood, IN, two grandchildren, Alicia and Alexis Patricio; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Spikes, Rev. Jimmy Futch and Mr. D.Q. Pittman officiating. The Eulogy was give by Mr. Mitchell's son, Roland "Buddy" Mitchell. Special musical selections included "Not Afraid" and "I Hold A Clear TItle" rendered by the Sweetwater Creek Singers and "Amazing Grace" render by the congregation with Michelle Mitchell accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Michelle Mitchell, pianist. The interment followed in Antioch Cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: The Sunday Morning Men's Fellowship Breakfast Group.
