Born May 4, 1939 in Atkinson County, Mr. Moore was the son of Estelle Taft Moore Johnson and Elisha David Moore. He was a 1957 graduate of Atkinson County High School where he was an excellent athlete especially in football. He worked for many years at the Georgia Pacific Mill in Pearson where he was the day shift supervisor. After retiring he went back to work with Atkinson County Solid Waste Management. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Guest Mill Pond Fishing Club and a charter member of the Alapaha Hunting Cl Club. He also loved to make syrup and always planted a garden of greens for ev everyone in the community to enjoy. He was also preceded in death by his st stepfather Archie Johnson. Survivors include, wife Karen Moore of Pearson, GA; son, David Moore and wife M Michelle of Pearson, GA; daughters, Joan Harvey and husband Al of Yulee, FL, J Jody Veazey and husband Bryan of Broxton, GA; brothers, Larry Johnson and wife J Joyce of Pearson, GA and Gary Johnson and wife Sherri of Milledgeville, GA; s sister, Marie McDonald of Waycross, GA; 5 grandchildren, Brooke Vining, Brian V Vining, Wesley Bryan (BJ) Veazey, Amber Moore, MacKenzie Moore. Several nieces a and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Moore were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Chaney and Rev. Carroll Carver officiating. Special letters from the family were read by Carla Chaney and eulogies were given by Clark Tanner, Spinny Brown and granddaughter, Amber Moore. Special music included “I’m Not Afraid” and “I Hope We Walk the Last Mile Together” rendered by soloist and pianist Michael Johnson. Prelude and postlu postlude selections were played by Michael Johnson. Pianist. Interment followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens. Serving as active pallbearers were Al Harvey, Clifford Taft, Quillan Taft, Jimm Jimmy Mullis, Clyde Gurley, Leon Spivey. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA was in charge of the aarrangements.
