Atkinson County Citizen - May 2007
 Mrs. Dona Lee Mussell, age 91, long time resident of Sycamore, IL, died 
Friday, May 11, 2007 in Batavia, IL.
 Mrs. Mussell was born June 19, 1915 in Pearson, GA, daughter of Jessie and 
Betty Mills Smith. She was the sixth of seven children in her family, all of 
whom pre-deceased her. On Christmas Day, 1930 she married Olin "Jim" W. Mussell 
in Madson, FL. One daughter, Betty was born in 1932. In 1936 the family moved 
to Sycamore. From the mid-1950's until 1971 she was the librarian for the 
Sycamore Public Library and a long time member of the Sycamore United Methodist 
Church. She was a avid reader all her life, as well as an energetic and 
enthusiastic companion on the many camping and rock hunting trips the couple 
took after their retirement. In their travels, tent camping or trailering, the 
Mussells explored much of the North American continent, from Alaska to Mexico 
from California to Nova Scotia. In her sixties, she learned to drive a car and 
to ride a bicycle. Mr. Mussell died in 1991 and in 1998, Dona moved to a 
retirement home, The Holmstad in Batavia.
 Survivors include daughter, Betty (D. Thomas) Lundy of LaGrange Park; two 
grandchildren, James Lundy and wife Sherryl of St Paul, MN and Susan 
Christopher and husband David of Lyons, IL; three great grandchildren, Sean 
Lundy, Rose Lundy and Nicholas Jankowski. several nieces and nephews also 
survive.
 Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mussell will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, 
May 19, 2007 at Union Hill Cemetery in Pearson, GA. 
 Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, GA is in charge of the arrangements.
