Born March 15, 1905 in a part of Coffee County that is now Atkinson County. Mrs. Neugent was the daughter of Bartley and Maude McKinnon Vickers. She attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and farmer and took great pride in her ability to provide for her family. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Ma". Later in life she looked forward to her birthday celebration every year with her extended family and friends. She sincerely loved her family, friends, and church and will be missed by all. Survivors include, son, Terrell Neugent of Pensacola, FL and daughter, June Overton of Goldsburg, NC; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; special caregiver, June Chaney. Funeral services for Mrs. Neugent were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Spikes officiating. Mrs. Neugent's great grandson, Jay Neugent gave the Eulogy. Special musical selections included, "Amazing Grace" and "Precious Memories" rendered by Charles and Tammy Wood with Charles Wood on the guitar, and "Peace in the Valley" was rendered by Kevin Moore with tape accompaniment. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Debra Suggs, pianist. The interment followed in Arna Cemetery. Serving was active pallbearers were Kevin Neugent, Jay Neugent, Paul Payton, Michael Whigam, Dennis Clark, Ed Richardson. Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
