Durden dawned@dishmail.net January 17, 2008, 9:35 pm Coffee County Progress, Thursday 8-5-1954 Mrs. Colita O'Neal, 77, Laid to Rest July 30th Last rites were held Friday afternoon for Mrs. Colita O'Neal who passed away at the age of 77 at her home near Willacoochee. She had been ill for some time. A native of Coffee County, the deceased was the daughter of the late Leaston and Dicie Ricketson Jowers and married the late Lee O'Neal. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Maggie Jacobs, Mrs. Della Lewis, Alapaha, Mrs. Minnie Hayes, Douglas, Mrs. Mattie Lewis, Homerville, Mrs. Myrtice Moore, Douglas, and Mrs. Agnes Tyson, Nashville, two sons, Blanton O'Neal of Willacoochee, and Lawton O'Neal of Woodbine. Pallbearers were grandsons, Paul Luke, Willie Hayes, R. L. Luke, Lucious Jacobs, Bennett Anderson, and Ferris Hayes. Honorary pallbearers were Carter Cribb, J. P. Tucker, Ovid Lumpkin, Jeff Floyd, Clifford Luke, and Ben Joiner. The Rev. Julian Rowan was the officiating minister and music was furnished by the church choir. Interment was in the St. Luke Cemetery with Sims Funeral Home of Pearson in charge.
