Spikes Funeral services for William Henry Spikes were held Tuesday, December 10, 1996 at the Tifton Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Spikes died Sunday, December 8, at Berrien Nursing Center. He was 79. Bro. Jim Cattell and Bro. Don Coates officiated the 2:00 service with interment in the Willacoochee City Cemetery. Born to Ebb Spikes and Alice Jewel Spikes on August 22, 1917 in Atkinson County. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Nashville Mills. Mr. Spikes was a member of Church ofJesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is survived by his wife,Frances Garren Spikes of Alapaha; three daughters: Barbara Purvis Benson of Alapaha,Katherine Moore and Bernice Wilkerson both of Nashville;five sons: William H. Spikes, Jr. of Douglas, Walter Spikes of Nashville, Winston Spikes of Ocilia, Tommy Spikes of Alapaha, and Teddy Spikes of Dublin; three sisters: Thelma Hayes of Alapaha, Eula Mae Jefferson and Lillian Moore,both of Nashville; one brother:Callis Spikes of Alapaha; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by two sons, one granddaughter,and two sisters. Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville was in charge of arrangements.
